This is the story of Mecho (meaning Bear). Mecho is a sweet young boy, no more than a year old, homeless on the streets of Bulgaria. Who knows how and why he found himself hungry and alone. As if being homeless was not bad enough, Mecho encountered yet one more of the dangers so often befalling animals on the streets - he was hit by a car. The injury he sustained is very serious and broke his pelvis in 2 spots, almost irreparably damaging his spine. When he was taken to the vet by the kind strangers who witnessed the hit-and-run, it turned out poor Mecho also has the often deadly heartworm. So much suffering in one innocent body!
